Health Poverty Action (HPA) is a UK based NGO working to strengthen poor and marginalised people in their struggle for health through development initiatives in 13 countries and campaigning for change.
JOB DETAILS:
HPA is currently recruiting a committed and experienced Field Officer and Driver for its DFID funded programme REAP (Girls’ Education and Advancement Programme) implemented in Nyaruguru District. The recruited staff will be based in HPA’s Huye office with frequent travels to Nyaruguru, and will work closely with HPA staff based in Kigali.
Under direct supervision of the Project Field Coordinator with reporting to Program Manager, the Field Officer will be responsible for the implementation of REAP activities at the community level. She/he will be able to mentor young girls in order to reduce drop-out rates, improve learning outcomes among girls in Nyaruguru District.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in the implementation of REAP activities as per detailed work plan;
Sensitization of communities and target groups on program objectives, strategies and activities;
- Mobilize young girls (and boys) in and out of school and their parents to join
- Integrated Saving and Lending Groups and other economic initiatives;
- Build and maintain positive working relations with local leaders and other partners in the assigned project area;
- Prepare and submit quality report on monthly, and quarterly report to the
- Program Manager and the M&E Manager with evidence based monitoring tools;
- Coordinate activities of community based volunteers and provide them with required technical support;
- Conduct home visits to assist beneficiaries and follow-up of activities on regular basis;
- Participation in monitoring and evaluation of activities.
- Serve as a role model and develop and maintain a constructive, positive relationship with youth while assisting them in Work Ready Now and Be Your
- Own boss trainings, and providing guidance and support through daily interaction and promoting youth Personal Development Plan (PDP).
- Supervise the implementation of the project to achieve the anticipated results;
- Ensure that all project components are implemented according to the project plans, in order to meet all goals and objectives.
- Keep good communications between the project leaders and partners;
- Ensuring that lessons learned are documented and disseminated for the project’s visibility.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor degree in an area of Education, and/or social studies
- Experience of working for education projects
- Having business development/ management experience
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
- Extensive project field skills and experience in youth interaction;
- Proven experience as field officer or relevant similar position
- Experience on youth livelihood projects;
- Fluency in English (both verbal and written)
- Experience working with NGOs is an added advantage
- The candidate must have a valid Motorcycle Driving license, category A
