Background

Tearfund, a Christian charity that partners with churches to end poverty, requires a backup power system for its office in Kigali, Rwanda to provide reliable electricity for the network equipment to cover breaks in the city power supply of up to 2 hours.

This could be a self-contained UPS (perhaps with additional batteries) or a system built out of individual components.

The backup system will need to provide power for short breaks (up to two hours long) The building will be occupied from 8 am to 5 pm on weekdays and occasionally at weekends.

The equipment that the system needs to power and the times involved are listed below.

City power is available and should be able to charge the batteries. The office does not have a generator.

The backup system must be made up of high-quality components.

Monitoring facilities - both local and remote - should be included, e.g. through the Victron VRM system or equivalent. An internet connection will be available for this.

The backup system will power certain specific wiring circuits that are also powered by REG power but not the whole office/building.

Justification - in your proposal, please detail the calculations to justify the components and system as a whole. This should include but not necessarily be limited to the battery capacity and type, inverter power, and charge-controller power. Any assumptions made must be fully described.

Fit with Current Infrastructure - please describe how this will fit with the current infrastructure. If there is additional work required to provide extra circuits or to separate the wiring this will be dealt with separately and not as part of this quote. Please indicate if this is necessary and whether you can do this.

Timescales - please outline a breakdown of timescales after receiving an order.

Warranties - please include details of the warranties on the equipment and the work done.

Price - please provide a breakdown of the pricing and what taxes are included/excluded.
