JOB DETAILS:
  zipline operates the world’s only drone delivery system at national scale, sending urgent medicines like lifesaving blood and vaccines to those in need, no matter where they live. Today, we’re operating across most of Rwanda and quickly spreading across Ghana, covering millions more people with better access to medicine.
Zipline is at the forefront of a revolution and we’re looking for a GIS Engineer excited to lead mapping and route finding efforts to enable our fleet of lifesaving drones to fly to more places.
Example Projects
Leading surveying teams in Rwanda and Ghana to collect and process large amounts of data to build a detailed representation of the places we fly
Crafting and verifying new flight routes to hospitals and health clinics
Working closely with engineers to influence the design and functionality of the surveying and route planning tools
Strong candidates have many of these traits:
Strong communication skills – you will be working with remote teams around the world and will need to convey clear instructions
Extreme attention to details – you will be making safety-critical decisions and our team will rely on you to make smart judgment calls
GIS experience – you should know the basics of mapping tools, geographic representations, and understand different surveying techniques
Technical literacy – you won’t be expected to write code, but you will be interacting with tools that are still in development and should not be afraid to learn how to use the command line and some other software engineering tools..
