English lecturer
Karongi Campus

The protestant Institute of Arts and Social Sciences would like to recruit an English lecturer with Master’s Degree, to be based in Karongi Campus.

Responsibilities 
• Delivering, interacting and engaging classroom instruction
• Creating a conducive environment for students’ personal growth
• Modelling the values, attitudes and behaviours of a quality lecturer
• Effectively manage time in professional related responsibilities
• Attending University meetings and carrying out other assignments delegated to him/her by the Supervisors
• Participating in continuous professional development
• Undertake research that advances the discipline and/ or pedagogic research and/or applied research
• Mentor and advise students and supervise students’ Dissertations
• Organize course materials in a clear and presentable way
• Work in close collaboration with other Lecturers
• Develop programs and course materials including syllabi, reading and teaching resources, including assessment
• Create a wide range of activities to improve students’ written and verbal skills in English
• Supervise, examine and grade students, and enter their grades into the PIASS Learning Management System
• Ensure alignment of content with PIASS standards and international standards
• Advise students on their research projects to ensure their writings are up to the University requirements"

Qualifications and skills
• Minimum of a Master’s degree in languages notably English
• Demonstrate interest in Languages education and continuous professional development and scientific research
• Computer literacy, with proficiency in with E Learning Management Systems
• Ability to multi task, work independently and in a team
• Experience of teaching in Higher Learning institutions
• Demonstrate flexibility in working environment
• Ability to pay attention to detail and quality
• Results-oriented with adherence to deliverables and deadlines
• Familiarity with the Management Information System (MIS) should be an added advantage
