JOB DETAILS:

Organization Unit: Country Operations
Reporting line: Site Manager

• Develop plans and schedules to ensure that production targets are met
• Consistently deliver pre-packs by leading and managing packing processes to ensure efficient and standard packing of finished sugar according to quality standards, ensuring that performance targets are met, within cost parameters and in a safe and healthy working environment
• Identify areas of loss and waste and work continuously to ensure that improvements are made
• Supervise daily operations/process efficiency on the packing lines to ensure that operations are carried out according to operational standards
• Respond immediately to non-compliance to FSSC & RFDA requirements, ensuring that problems and issues are resolved
• Provide direction for continuous improvement
• Monitor budgets within sphere of control, ensuring that operating costs remain within budget
• Drive team performance, ensuring that roles and performance targets are understood, the team is motivated, and targets are met
• Develop partnering relationships with team and other internal/external stakeholders to ensure that operational excellence is achieved

The Job Holder will be responsible for performing the following duties:
OPERATIONAL PLANNING AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

• Develop plans and schedules to achieve KPI’s
This includes monthly, weekly, and daily operational plans and schedules, resource optimization plans
• Identify loss and waste areas and prioritize daily and weekly activities to address these, to ensure that production targets are met

STANDARDS AND TARGETS
• Manage the achievement of shift and daily performance targets
• Ensure that excellent cleaning and housekeeping is maintained on packing lines and according to Food Safety requirements
• Be the safety example by wearing protective clothing, adhering to packing station entry requirements and complying with safety rules at all times and ensuring that all staff do likewise
• Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC)
• Develop and update SOPs on a regular basis as agreed.

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
• Communicate daily plans and targets during meetings as per agreed operational procedures
• Conduct daily inspections as per operational routines to ensure that Packing Station processes meet FSSC requirements
• Supervise packing lines as per agreed operational routines
• Take corrective action where you see operational non-compliance
• Work with Maintenance to monitor equipment and work tasks to ensure that equipment utilization is optimized
• Develop problem solving and process improvement ability in self and others to ensure that operations improve continuously
• Ensure effective risk mitigation measures are implemented to ensure that packing quality meets standards

PERFORMANCE OPTIMISATION
• Continually work towards achieving maximum process efficiency by equating loss with cost, sharing that information with team and identifying ways to reduce loss through improved process/team behaviour

BUDGETING AND FINANCIAL CONTROL
• Control production budgets, ensuring that overtime and use of temps is controlled and within budget

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
• Build a motivated packing team, focused on achievement of performance targets
• Direction: Understand the facts, listen to key stakeholders, and communicate objectives clearly, concisely and consistently
• Alignment: Clearly define roles, responsibilities, and expectations, and think and act in ways that benefit the team
• Commitment: Be consistent in what we say and do, clearly linking strategy to decision-making and performance
• Develop: Build and develop sugar processing capabilities within production area
• Advanced diploma in Engineering
• 5 years + packing experience
• 5 years + supervisory experience
• Preferred – contractor management
• Experience in FSSC compliance/ISO systems compliance
• Experience in supporting continuous improvement team activities

Work Hours: 8


Experience in Months: 120

Level of Education:
Associate Degree
